Before you order ArcadePay Controllers, one question comes up on almost every route: will this work on my machines?
Short answer: if the machine takes coins or bills — or already has a cashless port — ArcadePay can usually connect. Here is how to check compatibility with confidence.
Arcade and Amusement Machines
ArcadePay was built for the amusement industry. Controllers work with:
- Claw machines (most major brands)
- Skill-prize and redemption machines
- Pinball machines (pulse or MDB connection)
- Video arcade games with a coin door or bill validator
- Locker box systems and token dispensers
Rule of thumb: if players can pay with cash today, there is a good chance ArcadePay can add QR, Tap to Pay, and card acceptance on that same cabinet.
Vending Machines (Drink, Snack, Combo)
Yes — ArcadePay Controllers also work with many vending machines that have an MDB cashless connector.
MDB (Multi-Drop Bus) is the standard cashless interface on commercial vending equipment. Look inside the coin mech area for a rectangular multi-pin connector labeled MDB, DEX, or Cashless. If you see it, your machine is likely compatible.

Connection Types ArcadePay Supports
- Easy-Connect (6-pin / 4-pin) — common on claw and redemption machines
- MDB Cashless — vending and some amusement cabinets
- Pulse / Coin Credit — older cabinets, pinball, custom builds
- Hardwire pigtail — older bill validators without a standard connector

Machines We Do Not Currently Support
- Machines with no coin mech, bill validator, or cashless port
- Proprietary closed-loop systems that block third-party cashless devices
- Machines that require an unsupported cashless protocol (for example S2 DEX-only without MDB)
When in doubt, ask first. Confirming fit before you order saves a trip and keeps the install smooth.
