Need to Take One Machine Offline for Cards? How to Pause Electronic Payments

A machine starts acting up. Pulse looks wrong, a guest just got charged with no credit, or you need to pull the unit for parts — and you still want coins to work while you fix it.

You do not need to take the whole machine dark. You can pause electronic payments on that one controller and leave cash running.

ArcadePay Controller connected through the coin mechanism connector on a machine

Option 1: Unplug the Controller On-Site

If you can reach the machine, this is the fastest fix.

Unplug the ArcadePay Controller from the coin mechanism connector. Leave the machine powered on if coins still need to work.

Here is what happens:

  • The machine keeps accepting coins the way it did before ArcadePay was installed.
  • QR, card, and digital wallet payments stop until you plug the controller back in.
  • No dashboard changes are required.
  • Guests do not see an error screen — the QR payment page simply does not come up.

When you are ready to resume, plug the controller back into the coin mechanism connector. Give it up to about 10 minutes to reconnect and sync. A steady blinking red light means it is back online and taking electronic payments again.

Option 2: Ask Us to Pause It Remotely

Cannot get to the location yet? Email ops@arcadepay.app (or reply on your existing support thread) and include:

  1. The machine name or location.
  2. The device ID from your ArcadePay dashboard under Machines → select the machine → Settings.
  3. That you want electronic payments paused, and roughly when you expect to get back on-site.

We can disable payment processing for that machine from our side. Coins keep working. When you are ready, reply and we turn electronic payments back on.

While You Investigate a Missed Credit

If a guest paid and the machine did not credit, pause electronic payments on that unit so more guests do not hit the same problem, then email ops@arcadepay.app with:

  • Machine name or location
  • Device ID from Machines
  • Approximate time of the missed credit

We can pull the transaction logs and pulse settings. In many cases you can also send a manual credit from the dashboard while we dig in — ask us if you want a walkthrough.

The Takeaway

Pausing electronic payments is a one-machine switch, not a full location shutdown. Unplug on-site when you are there; email ops when you are not. Coins keep working either way, and you avoid stacking more failed card plays on a controller you already know needs attention.

Need a remote pause, a credit walkthrough, or help reading a missed payment? Email ops@arcadepay.app with the machine name and device ID.
