You export a month of cashless sales for your accountant — and the payment method column says Unknown on a handful of rows. That label looks alarming. Most of the time it is not a bad charge. It is missing wallet metadata.
On your ArcadePay dashboard, tap-to-pay (Apple Pay, Google Pay, and contactless cards) usually passes a clear payment method. When a guest types their card number on the checkout page, that metadata is often missing, so the export shows Unknown.

What Unknown Usually Means
Unknown typically means the customer entered their card number manually rather than tapping. The payment still processed. The export just does not always receive a wallet or card-brand label for typed-in cards.
- Tap / wallet: often shows Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a clear card method
- Manual card entry: often shows Unknown
So Unknown is a labeling gap — not a signal that the sale is missing from your totals.
How to Double-Check a Row
- Open your ArcadePay dashboard and go to Reports → Transactions.
- Set the date range that matches the export.
- Open the Cashless tab (or filter to Cashless).
- Find the row by machine name, time, and amount.
- Confirm the charge looks right for that stop — amount, machine, and timestamp.
If one specific Unknown row still looks wrong (wrong amount, duplicate, or a guest dispute), email ops@arcadepay.app with the date, approximate amount, and machine name. We can look it up with you.
While You Are in Reports
Use the same screen to keep books clean for location partners:
- Select both Cash and Cashless when you need the full month, then Export.
- Remember Coins / Cash covers every physical pulse — coins and bill-acceptor bills combined.
- For a confusing cash line (for example “$7.00 / 3 combined coins”), click the bill icon next to that transaction to see the raw pulse breakdown.

The Takeaway
Unknown on a cashless export usually means the guest typed their card instead of tapping. Totals still count. Spot-check machine, time, and amount when something looks off — and loop in ops@arcadepay.app for any row you cannot reconcile.
